Sometimes I cry so hard from pleading
So sick and tired of all the needless beating

Training on Sunday. Year 3 briefing on Monday. Kinda afraid for my portfolio. What if I can't finish it on time? What if the articles which I put in aren't good enough? I just want to do well :/ Junior training after. Training on Tuesday. It's been quite a long time since we had this type of training. Aching now): Need to get used to it again. No school yesterday!(: But had to come down to school for a workshop :/ Workshop later too. Training is different now. Seniors have graduated and are working, while some of my bunch are away for internship. I smile, talk and laugh less. It doesn't help that there are such people around -_- Saturday, April 21, 2012
Haven't updated for a week plus :/ Student Life Activities (SLA) last Thursday! Went around recruiting girls with Marion and Meiting(: Saw a few potential ones! I just hope that this year's intake will result in more girls, with a good mindset/attitude and will work hard to be strong(: Gym last Friday. Didn't have training last Saturday! :D ![]() Met with couz and family for dinner. It's been a long time since the families met up. Training on Sunday. Slacked at home on the last day of holidays. It ended too fast): School started on Tuesday! New class. I think I'm fine with it, with the exception of one person :/ I just want it to be a good closure semester for my school days(: Tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. Gym on Thursday. Year 1 DB orientation yesterday! It was quite okay I guess(: The good ones must stay! Training today. It ended early for us so we were able to go for breakfast with Nazi, Yashi and Amy(: Homed after that. Took a short nap and stayed home till now. Training tomorrow. Tuesday, April 10, 2012
Glad I didn't drop so much after I came back from the trip(: Went to visit a flea market with Shermaine, Farhana and Aneesa on Saturday :D Expected the flea to be bigger but it turned out to be pretty average. Headed to Far East Plaza after that to shop for a bit more. Was getting kinda tired looking at all the clothes hahaha. Training on Sunday. Extra training yesterday. Training today. Training + extra training tomorrow. To think I would be spending my last week of holidays training/going to school :/ My whole body is aching now. Couldn't even run properly just now, knees were aching): Friday, April 06, 2012
Late by 2 days but here's a super long post to compensate for it!(: Day 1: Living above water (30th March 2012) Met with Shermaine at Harbourfront. Ferry to Batam. Boat ride to Telunas. Was unfortunately sitting in front and water kept splashing in.. you get the story. Cover later on also too late because we were already drenched with the seawater -_- Welcome, orange juice and lunch!(: Went to see our dorms and settled in. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Initially felt weird to walk on the pathway as it was made of planks but got used to it afterwards(: Everything else was quite alright. Chose our beds. There was a balcony to hang our clothes. The scenery all around us was great too. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Headed to the dining area where we had the introductions, johari window and such. Almost fell asleep as it was really draggy and boring. Played games after that. Had to get a partner and find things you have/not have in common. It was really awkward cos I haven't talked to them before :/ Survival game of prioritizing different items. Played with mouse traps too. Risked getting our fingers snapped at. Jetty jump! Jumped twice(: Glad I managed to garner my courage and just ran to jump in. The seawater went in my nose though and it was really salty -_- ![]() ![]() ![]() Bathed. Dinner! Reflections in the meeting room. Had to play a dumb game where you hang up a keropok and have to use only your mouth to eat the entire thing. Boy, it was really difficult. The string kept swinging everywhere as everyone else was trying too. Also had to plan what to do for the next day. Almost fell asleep again :/ Bet everyone else was too. Slept around 12am. Heavy rain + thunder around 12+. Everyone had to wake up and bring their clothes in as it was all wet and flying down. Back to sleep with the cold. Day 2: Cement after cement Woke up. Washed up. Breakfast (pancakes, egg :D). Off to the village. Village welcome. Snacks (curry puff, cake) before starting work. Dug the ground out to space out for foundation. ![]() ![]() ![]() Time to make cement! Was in the labor team for the first 2 days. 3 portions of sand, 2 of rocks and 1 bag of cement. Had to get lots of water from the well too. Mixed it up. Sledgehammer to break rocks. Had a go at it and it was fun(: It was also a good workout for my arms. Made my left shoulder ache the next day hahaha. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Had lunch in between. Snacks again after the hours of work. Left the village; back to telunas. Bath time. Went to the deck too. The breeze was really windy and nice(: A group of the guys were singing modified songs which were damn funny :P Dinner! Reflection again. Ideas for our photo essay with Valerie, Lynn and Liyana :D Day 3: Team Jaga Breakfast (egg, tried peanut butter + jam on toast!). Leave to the village. Started work. Cement making, carrying water, carrying cement, the usuals. Lunch. Had white otah(: Snacks (pandan pancake + coconut; sedap!). Watched a soccer match. Jaga VS another village. Back to Telunas. Bath time. Dinner. Watched a movie about perspectives in the meeting room. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Laid down to look at the starry night. Could see the stars clearly unlike SG :/ Waves, stars, night sky, sea breeze. Got me thinking about lots of things. But mostly you. Did up the photo essay. Was really tired but had to endure. Endured so much till there was this period of time when 4 of us just went crazy and laughed non stop hahaha. Day 4: Red eyes and teary goodbyes Breakfast (mee goreng, egg). Leave to the village. Started the teaching session. Wanted to try and help but I didn't know Malay so it was really difficult :/ Managed to teach origami to 2 of the kids though(: Felt accomplished. Happy that one of them started to smile and not just stare at me anymore. Lunch (white otah again!). ![]() ![]() (Drawings by me and Shermaine ^^) ![]() Helped out with placing the bricks. Snack time. The snacks that day were seriously damn good. Roti Kirai and something like Ondeh-Ondeh. I would so go for more rounds :P Finally found out the long lost snack that I loved ever since Primary school. Always knew that it was something like a pancake mixed with curry but I never knew the name for it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Soccer match. RP/Telunas staff VS Locals. The goalkeeper for RP was a local. He was awesome as he managed to block a lot of shots. If it were someone else.. Confirm kenna trash hahah. Ended up with 0-0 after a long time. I wanted the locals to score. They were really good, considering that they've been playing it ever since they were young. Back to Telunas. Some of the children and volunteers started crying :/ I didn't really manage to bond with any kids there so I was quite alright. I still felt a tinge of sadness though. ![]() In the end, we only managed to complete a portion of the wall up in front and laid the foundation for the other side and round the corner. They would have to complete the rest. But doing that in a span of 3 days, I think that it's already a good job done as we tried our best(: Moreover, it's our efforts and memories which count more, right? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bath time. Dinner @ Bonfire area. Made our own pizza! It tasted awesome. Didn't expect it to be this good. Shared one with Shermaine. Added cheese, mushrooms, tomato, onions, green peppers. The chicken wings tasted really good too(: Roasted a few marshmallows at the bonfire after. Had reflections there and the guys did a durga-ism skit. It was hilarious. Kept laughing non-stop :P Headed back to do some editing to our photo essay while the others do their own tasks. Fell asleep lots of times cos I was so exhausted :/ In the end I just went back to the dorm, did some notes and fell asleep on my bed. With the rest of my dorm mates still out doing work/lepaking hahaha. Starry night again though. Day 5: Home sweet home (3rd April 2012) Woke up. Breakfast (last time getting an omelette cooked by the lady and then thanking and smiling at her :D). Strong wind and waves that morning so our trek was delayed. ![]() ![]() ![]() 10 minutes boat ride to the other side of the island to trek. The boat had to keep zigzagging around the mangroves to get there. It was high tide then. Trekked to the waterfall(: The water looked nice and cold. Didn't go in to jump as I was kinda lazy :/ We only had half an hour before we had to set off to trek back. ![]() ![]() It was already low tide when we arrived back at our starting point so we had to either wait for the small boat or walk in the murky mangrove waters to one of the bigger boats waiting. Initially refused to get into the water. But decided to after they said the small boat could only take 5 people and they all were either injured/had womanhood calls :/ It was a.. once in a lifetime experience, I would say. Went in barefooted like most of the rest because I didn't want my shoes to get stuck/muddy. ![]() ![]() ![]() Headed back to Telunas. Bath + Lunch halfway before we had to rush off in the boat back to Batam and then to SG. Dinner with Shermaine and the year 1s at Vivo before home sweet home!(: Glad I managed to make friends with the year 1s there even though it was awkward at first :D I feel really accomplished too cos I contributed in building the wall(: And I also didn't get any mosquito bites during the entire trek! (Even though I received a number on the first day in the village) Thanks to the spamming of insect repellent hahaha. Overall, before: ![]() After: ![]() Gained new memories and experiences(: Missing the starry nights, the whole living above water thing, getting amused when flushing the toilet/bathing, boat rides and sunsets(: ![]() ![]() P.S Woah this post took up my entire blog page! That's certainly something wahahaha. Will update what happened this few days like tomorrow or something~ |
